MJH Chess Club
Beginning the 2nd week of January, Montgomery Junior High will start a Chess Club.  If you are interested in joining the Chess Club, please contact Coach Washington to find out eligibility requirements and practice times.  swashington@misd.org

Lady Bear Basketball - 8th Grade
Monday, December 15th, the 8th grade Lady Bears took on Magnolia at home. The C-team came out strong winning 28-14. The Lady Bears had a slow start but kicked it into gear in the second half scoring 20 points! Top scorers were Deshayla Mallard and Alyse Waller with 6 points each. The B-team blew the Bulldogs right out of town winning 26-5. The girls kept the high intensity pace all four quarters. Top scorers were Paige Garza with 6 points and Alicia Morales with 4.  The A-team left their hearts out on the court but fell short 37-21. The Lady Bears never gave up and played hard to the last second. Top scorers were Trinity Oliver and Maddie Davis with 6 points each.  Coach Inman, Davidson, and Heard are so proud of all three teams! Way to go Lady Bears!              
Bear Basketball - 7th Grade
Last night, December 18th, The 7th grade boys basketball teams traveled to Magnolia to take on the Bulldogs.  The C Team started the night off and did not disappoint as they finished on top with a score of 22-13.  the Bears B Team followed suit as they spanked the Bulldogs 35-15.  And the 7th grade A Team finished off the night to sweep Magnolia with a score of 34-31.  Great job guys from Coach Suttles, Coach Dickson, Coach Vickery and Coach Payne.
 
Bear Basketball - 8th Grade
The Montgomery Bears 8th Grade C Team defeated Magnolia 32-9.  Joshua White led all scorers in the game with 7 points. Jordan Irwin, Jacob Whitten, and Dylan Villarrubia dialed up 6 points each.  Mason Claver poured in 5 points.  Noel Spurlock knocked down 2 points. 
The Montgomery Bears 8th Grade B Team defeated Magnolia 23-11.  Grant Brown led the Bears in scoring with 7 points.  Donny Lewis swished 5 points.  Dalton Davis canned 3 points. Luke Loera, Ryan Crowe, Conner Wilson and Daniel Dobis visited the net for 2 points.
The Montgomery Bears 8th Grade A Team lost to Magnolia 42-25.  Jack Talley led the Bears in scoring with 8 points.  Payton Bond poured in 6 points.  Tauren Bradley and Davion Nassri deposited 4 points each.  Zachary Schubert scored 2 points and Ethan Garrow rounded out the scoring for the Bears with 1 point.

MJH Spelling Bee
Congratulations go out to Lauren Cotton for placing 1st in this year's spelling bee with the word outrageous. Lauren will represent Montgomery Junior High in the area bee in February - go, Lauren!!
Honors also go out to 2nd and 3rd place spellers Kaytlan Bragg and Seth Brogdon respectively.
A special "Thank you" goes out to MJH PTO mem ber pam Calvert and to Mr. Jordan and Mr. Greg for all their preparatory help, and a big round of applause goes out to teacher volunteers Mrs. Kolstad, Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Larrison for assisting and judging.

Lady Bear Basketball - 7th Grade
Before the Thanksgiving Break the 7th grade Lady Bear Basketball team started the season off with a bang.  On Thursday they took down Bear Branch for the win and took that momentum with them that Friday and Saturday at the Magnolia A Team tournament.  With only 2 days of practice and a game they started out strong and defeated Peet in a thrilling overtime victory 19-14.  Saturday morning they fell to a strong McCullough team 16 - 6 but rebounded and beat Magnolia Junior High 12-10 to claim 3rd place.  Way to go ladies and good luck this Thursday against Schultz and this weekend at our A team tournament here at MJH!
The 7th grade Lady Bear Basketball team had their first home game last night against Schultz, and have gotten their season off to a great start. The C team held their opponent scoreless until their fourth quarter, winning 24-4. 
The B team never slowed down, and beat Schultz 50-6. Cricket Heaton scored 14 points, and both Ella Leman and Taylor Vidal scored 10 each.
The A team continued the winning streak, beating Schultz 54-13. High Scorers were D'Ona Ferguson scoring 16 points and Stefi Palomares scoring 14. Way to go girls; all of your coaches are very proud of your hard work on the court.
Lady Bear Basketball - 8th Grade
8th grade Lady Bears basketball team swept Schultz last night at their first home game.
C-team started the night with a bang beating their opponent 33-0. The girls hustled the entire game and never gave up a point. Top scorer was Madison Genzer with 10 points .
B-team kept the win going winning with an impressive score of  52-7. The Lady Bears played their best all four quarters. Top scorer was Brittany Butorac with 12 points.
A-team finished out the sweep beating Schultz 37-12. The girls stayed strong and ended the night on a great note. Top scorer was Maddie Davis with 7 points.Awesome job last night girls and keep it up!

Bear Basketball - 7th Grade
The 7th grade boy’s basketball team traveled to Waller Schultz yesterday to face off against the Bulldogs.  The Bears offense was too much for Schultz to handle and Montgomery was relentless on defense.  The B-team won 26-15 and the A-team won 22-12.  Great job Bears!!!

Bear Basketball - 8th Grade
The Montgomery Bears Boy 8th Grade (B) Basketball Team defeated Waller Schultz 36-31 last night.  Grant Brown led the Bears in scoring with 11 points.  Donnie Lewis deposited 6 points.  Ryan Crow and Dillon Smith accounted for 4 points each.  Kenton Devereaux and Daniel Doebiz poured in 3 points each.  Dylan Villarrubia dialed up 1 point.  Congratulations on your victory from Coach Washington, Bourgeois and Straughter.
The Montgomery Bears Boys 8th Grade (A) Basketball Team lost 62-45 last night to Waller Schultz.  Brayon Raglin led the Bears in scoring with 15 points.  Dowling Dickey dialed up 8 points.  Payton Bond pounded in 7 points.  Jack Talley visited the net and deposited 4 points.  Ali Jmaron and Davison Nassri canned 3 points each. Robert Jiminez and Zachary Schubert knocked down 2 points each. Ethan Garrow made 1 point.  Great job of sticking in the the game and playing hard. There were many visible signs of improvement in each player.
