Fiesta Super Sports Club Labels
Our first label turn in is coming up! Please continue to save labels from common food and beverages like Gatorade, Blue Bell Ice Cream half gallon containers, 2 liter coca cola products, Cheerios, Chips Ahoy cookies, etc. For a complete list of labels being collected, visit: http://www.fiestasupersportsclub.com/SSC_ScoreCard_Pricing_2015_v8.jpg
MJH will be given money for each label turned in. The first turn-in is on March 21 where we will get a 50% bonus! Collection boxes are located in the front office.


MJH PTO Meeting - The next PTO Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 8:45am.  Dr. Beau Rees, MISD Superintendent, will be our guest speaker.  The discussion item will be Bond 2015.

Lady Bears Basketball
Last night the 7th grade Lady bear C team played the 8th grade C team to finish out their season at home. 7th grade held onto the lead until the fourth quarter, when the 8th grade C team picked up the pace and won 19-14. The 7th grade leading scorer was Alex Canada with 6 points. Lauren Wilking, Adriana Diehl, Marissa Shirley and Erika Ramirez also added points to the board. 8th grade C team high scorers were Deshayla Mallard with 6 points, and Lauren Bettencourt with 3. Kaitlin Smith was also a top performer of the evening.

The 7th grade B team took on Tomball at home last night and played another close game. At half the girls were down 14-12, but quickly took the lead in the third quarter. Tomball tied the game 16-16 in the last thirty seconds, sending the game into overtime. The Lady Bears stood their ground and controlled the court during overtime, finishing the game off with 21-16 lead. High scorers were Ella Leman and Nicole Moore.

The 7th grade A team kept the crowd on their toes as well. The girls took and early lead in the first half with a score of 10-7. The game escalated quickly in the third when the lady bears increased the lead 24-19. The girls finished out the game 30-27. High Scorers were Taylor Vidal with 10, Collette Taylor with 8, and Stefi Palomares with 8, including 4 for 4 of her free throws. The girls ended their season 4 and 2 in district.

Great job last night, and all season. Coach Weatherwax, Coach Onks, and Coach Wallace are proud of your hard work, heart, and hustle over the past 4 months.


Bears Boys Basketball
7th Grade Boys Basketball Teams traveled to Tomball last Monday night to take on the Cougars from Tomball Jr. High for their last game of the year.  The B Team came into the night undefeated in district play and playing for the district championship.  The kids came into this game read and got started fast as they took the lead early and never looked back to beat Tomball 27-16.  The Bears A Team took the court with something to prove to the Cougars and that's exactly what they did.   The Bears fell behind early and trailed for most of the game but did stopped playing hard and made a comeback from 14 points down in the 4th quarter to tie the game with 34 seconds left.  Unfortunately they lost the game 43-42 but this was one of the best games they have played all year and they should be proud to have the season they had this year.  The 7th Grade A Team finished the year with a 7-4 record.  The 7th Grade B Team finished with an 11-0 record as District Champs and won the B Team Tournament at Magnolia Jr. High this year as well.  The C Team also finished the year undefeated and District Champions at 4-0 on the year.  This was a very good year for all of you guys on the 7th grade basketball team and we are very proud of how you played and represented us as a coaching staff at MJH.  Thanks for all your hard work and all of the Great memories from Coach Suttles, Coach Vickery, Coach Dickson and Coach Payne.

The Montgomery Bears 8th Grade Basketball B Team lost to Tomball 54-38 Monday night.  Daniel Dobis led the Bears in scoring with 16  points.  Mason Claver posted 6 points.  Jacob Whitten and Zid Thompson knocked down 5 points each.  Luke Loera canned 4 points and Grand Brown accounted for 2 points.
The Montgomery Bears 8th Grade Basketball A Team lost to Tomball Monday night.  Payton Bond led the Bears in scoring with 9 points.  Robert Jiminez dialed in 8 points.  Zachary Schubert swished 3 points.  Dickey Dowling, Jack Talley, Davion Nassri, and Konnor Cooper made 2 points each.  It was a pleasure working with both teams this season.  Coach Washington, Coach Bourgeois and Coach Straughter.

MJH Presents "The Diviners"
MJH will be performing "The Diviners" as a One Act Play, written by Jim Leonard Jr. and directed by Heather Ling, on February 14th in the MJH cafeteria.  Show times are 2:30 and 4:00 and tickets will be $5/each.
Please come support the junior high theater arts program and watch these amazing young actors perform.  The play tells the story of a troubled young boy and his friendship with a disenchanted preacher in southern Indiana in the early 1930's.  When the boy was young he almost drowned and this trauma and the loss of his mother in the same accident has left him deathly afraid of water. A former preacher, C.C. Showers, befriends the boy and tries to help him overcome his phobia of water so that the boy can heal a skin condition caused by not bathing.  Meanwhile the townspeople try to persuade the preacher to start their church anew while the preacher really only cares about helping the boy.  Events take a tragic turn when the town mistakes the preacher helping the boy bathe in the river for a baptism. 
This play is beautifully written and these young actors do an amazing job of taking us back to the days of the Great Depression and the hardships faced by many.
Again, the date for our performances are February 14th at 2:30 and  4:00.  Tickets will be sold at the door.

Bears Basketball 8th Grade
The Montgomery Bears 8^th Grade B Basketball Team defeated Waller 31-22 last night.  Grant Brown led the all scorers in the game with 11 points.  Donny Lewis knocked down 5 points.  Connor Wilson and Daniel Dobis pounded in 4 points each.  Luke Loera and Mason Claver poured in 3 points.  Jacob Whitten made 1 point.
The Montgomery Bears 8^th Grade A Basketball Team lost to Waller 39-34 last night.  Jack Talley and Davion Nassri led the team in scoring with 9 points each.  Robert Jiminex visited the net for 6 points.  Tauren Bradley netted 4 points.  Ali Imran, Konnor Cooper, and Zachary Schubert accounted for 2 points each.  Congratulations to both teams for playing hard.


Bears Basketball 7th Grade
The Montgomery Bears boy’s 7^th grade basketball teams traveled to Waller yesterday afternoon to face off against the Bulldogs of Waller Junior High.  Both teams came away with stunning come from behind victories.  The “B” team remains undefeated in district while the “A” team improved their record to 7 wins and 2 losses.  The Bears look to keep their streak alive and will host Magnolia Junior next Thursday at 4, 5, and 6 p.m.  Good luck, and come out and support your Bears!!!


Lady Bears Basketball 7th Grade
The B team started off a bit slower- they were just barely up 10-8 at the half, but the girls quickly took control of the game in the second half winning 29-12. Last night the leading scorer was Allie Yeager with 6 points, but the entire team worked together, and the following girls added to the win: Skylar Davidson, Meisha Lawson, Ella Leman, Nicole Moore, Cricket Heaton, Autumn Friedrich, and Kendall Balke, who finishes the list with a beautiful free throw. Megan Pistone hustled all night and contributed with countless steals and assists.


Lady Bears Basketball 8th 7th Grade
The A team finished the night by coming out on top as well. Their game was close at the half as well, 12-9, but the girls quickly excelled in the second half, winning 28-15. Leading scorers were Taylor Vidal with 10 points, Stefi Palomares with 8 points, Kylie Jinks with  7 points, Lindsey Hefner with 4 points.
All of the girls hustled the entire night, and Coach Wallace, Coach Onks, and Coach Weatherwax are super proud of a job well done.

Box Tops
You have less than a month left to turn in box tops for a chance to win $20 CASH, a $10 McDonalds gift card or an ice cream treat from the MJH cafeteria.  And considering we've only had 2 (yes, 2!) students so far turn in box tops, your chance of winning a prize at this point is guaranteed!  So c'mon and start clipping!   Put the box tops in a clear plastic baggie with the student's name on the front and turn it in to the front office by February 6th.  For a complete list of rules regarding prize eligibility, see the flyer bins located in and near the front office.

Fiesta Sports Club
Fiesta Super Sports Club labels are still being collected! Look for the purple box located in the front office or on the stage in the cafeteria during lunches. We’re collecting Bluebell ice cream lids, Gatorade labels, lids from Yoplait yogurt, and many other food labels. MJH will receive money from Fiesta Stores for each label turned in. MJH Choir
Incredible results from Region Choir auditions this past weekend!

Montgomery JH Choir brought 32 students to the Region Choir auditions this past weekend and 20 students earned spots in the Region Choir!  That is a record high for MJH.  Congratulations to the following students who have earned a place in the Region 9 Region Choirs.

Lady Bear 8th Grade Basketball
The 8th grade Lady Bears took on Bear Branch last night at home. Even though the girls fell short in the end all 3 teams played with amazing effort and drive.

C teams final score was 17-23. A few girls who stood out were Lauren Bettencourt, Deshayla Mallard, and Ashton Jileck. They showed tremendous heart the entire game and did not give up all four quarter.

B teams final score was 26-22. The girls fought point for point coming down to the last second. Some key players to the nail biter were Brittany Butorac, Sarah Mittlesteadt, and Kayla Art.

A team ended the night with the final score of 10-32. The girls showed amazing teamwork and worked together till the final buzzer. Some key players were Sade Armitage, Maggie Hendrix, and Maddie Davis. They kept the momentum going to the very end.

Coach Inman, Coach Davidson, and Coach Heard are incredibly proud of each and every one of you and how far you have come. Way to go girls!

Lady Bear 7th Grade Basketball
 Last night the 7th grade Lady Bear basketball teams fought tough but could not take down Bear Branch.  The C team started out slow but pulled it together in the 2nd half.  Unfortunately it was a little too late and the ladies lost 11-12.  The leading scorer for that game was Lauren Wilking with 3 points.

The B team had a lead early on but could not fend off a strong Bear Branch team in the second half.  They lost 22-24.  The leading scorer was Nicole Moore with 6 points.

The A team fought hard in a close match.  They never gave up and pushed until the very end when they were losing 22-26 with 4 seconds left on the clock.  WIth 1 second left, Lindsey Hefner shot a 3 pointer to make the final score 25-26. The leading scorer was D'ona Ferguson with 6 points.

They will travel to Schultz next week - good luck Lady Bears.

MJH Boys 7th Grade Basketball
The Montgomery Bears Boys 7^th grade basketballs team traveled to the Magnolia yesterday to face off against the other Bears of Bear Branch Junior High.  The “B” teams split and played well easily beating Bear Branch with scores 28 to 16 and 25 to 15.  Montgomery was relentless on defense and scored at will on offense.  Both teams remain undefeated in district play.  The “A” team came out hot with an early lead.  The game went back and forth and it was all tied up 20 to 20 by the end of the 3^rd quarter.  The Bears played tough, but were out-scored by 2 points in the fourth quarter and ultimately lost 31 to 29.  This is the first district loss for the Bears this season.  The Bears look forward to getting back on track next week when they host Waller Schultz.  Good luck and keep working hard Bears!

MJH Boys 8th Grade Basketball
The Montgomery 8^th Grade C Basketball Team lost to Magnolia Bear Branch 39-24 last night.  Joshua White had a monster night leading all scorers with 19 points and a ton of rebounds.  Mason Claver knocked down 5 points.

The Montgomery 8^th Grade B Basketball Team defeated Magnolia Bear Branch 26-21 last night.  The Bears had to battle back from an 8 point deficit going into the fourth period to gain the victory.  Luke Loera was the catalyst that ignited the Bears knocking down three 3 pointers and raining 11 points.  Conner Wilson pounded in 6 points.  Daniel Dobis deposited 4 points.  Grant Brown dialed up 3 points.  Kenton Devereaux accounted for 2 points.

The Montgomery 8^th Grade A Basketball Team lost 62-54 last night.  The Bears played with great tenacity, but could not capture the win.  Zachary Schubert led the Bears in scoring with 17 points.  Jack Talley drained 10 points.  Ethan Garrow poured in 8 points.  Robert Jiminez swished in 6 points.  Davon Nassri pounded in 5 points.  Tauren Bradley visited the net for 3 points.  Ali Imran dialed up 2 points.  Payton Bond rounded out the scoring with 1 point.  All of the Bears’ Teams fought hard and showed great character.

Fiesta Sports Club
MJH is now collecting Fiesta Sports Club labels. What an easy way to raise money for MJH! These labels can come from any items purchased at any store.  A box covered in purple paper can be located in the front office and in the cafeteria (during lunches).  Our first deadline will be Friday, March 20th (if this dates changes, you will be advised).  We appreciate your help and your students help collecting the labels!  Remind your student to turn in labels from lunch items purchased in the cafeteria or items brought from home.  Listed below are a few labels we will be collecting. For a complete list, please click on the file below.

• Wrappers from any Gatorade bottle.
• Wrappers from 2 liter Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Barq's, Fanta and Pibb Xtra bottles. 
• Lids from any Snapple Teas or Juice Drinks

• Lids from Yoplait Yogurt

Montgomery High School PTO

Lady Bear Basketball - 8th Grade

Monday, December 15th, the 8th grade Lady Bears took on Magnolia at home. The C-team came out strong winning 28-14. The Lady Bears had a slow start but kicked it into gear in the second half scoring 20 points! Top scorers were Deshayla Mallard and Alyse Waller with 6 points each. The B-team blew the Bulldogs right out of town winning 26-5. The girls kept the high intensity pace all four quarters. Top scorers were Paige Garza with 6 points and Alicia Morales with 4.  The A-team left their hearts out on the court but fell short 37-21. The Lady Bears never gave up and played hard to the last second. Top scorers were Trinity Oliver and Maddie Davis with 6 points each.  Coach Inman, Davidson, and Heard are so proud of all three teams! Way to go Lady Bears!              

Bear Basketball - 7th Grade

Last night, December 18th, The 7th grade boys basketball teams traveled to Magnolia to take on the Bulldogs.  The C Team started the night off and did not disappoint as they finished on top with a score of 22-13.  the Bears B Team followed suit as they spanked the Bulldogs 35-15.  And the 7th grade A Team finished off the night to sweep Magnolia with a score of 34-31.  Great job guys from Coach Suttles, Coach Dickson, Coach Vickery and Coach Payne.

 

Bear Basketball - 8th Grade

The Montgomery Bears 8th Grade C Team defeated Magnolia 32-9.  Joshua White led all scorers in the game with 7 points. Jordan Irwin, Jacob Whitten, and Dylan Villarrubia dialed up 6 points each.  Mason Claver poured in 5 points.  Noel Spurlock knocked down 2 points. 

The Montgomery Bears 8th Grade B Team defeated Magnolia 23-11.  Grant Brown led the Bears in scoring with 7 points.  Donny Lewis swished 5 points.  Dalton Davis canned 3 points. Luke Loera, Ryan Crowe, Conner Wilson and Daniel Dobis visited the net for 2 points.

The Montgomery Bears 8th Grade A Team lost to Magnolia 42-25.  Jack Talley led the Bears in scoring with 8 points.  Payton Bond poured in 6 points.  Tauren Bradley and Davion Nassri deposited 4 points each.  Zachary Schubert scored 2 points and Ethan Garrow rounded out the scoring for the Bears with 1 point.
