MJH PTO will host our annual Teacher Holiday Luncheon & Cookie Walk on Thursday, December 6th.  Bring 2 dozen of your finest holiday treats – cookies or dessert bars to share with our teachers.  Please deliver cookie treats on Thursday Dec. 6 to MJH front office, labeled as ‘Teacher Luncheon”, and include your name, name of dessert & copy of the recipe if you wish to share.
We need volunteers to help setup starting at 10 am, and food servers as well as cleanup crew until 12:30. We will also need assistance with the Teacher Cookie Walk from 10am-12:30pm. Please email Teresa Neel at mstneel@gmail.com if you are available to help volunteer.

MJHS Spelling Bee

Congratulations go out to Tara Wunderlich for placing 1st in this year’s spelling bee with the word  c-o-a-l-e-s-c-e-n-c-e.   Tara will represent Montgomery Junior High in the Area Spelling Bee in February – Go, Tara!!  Honors also go out to 2nd and 3rd place spellers Hope Chang and Peter Schier respectively.
Mr. Clark, our English Teacher Spelling Bee Sponsor, did an amazing job with this year’s spell-off.   Thank-you Mr. Clark for making spelling fun for all those that participated!  Also, a special “Thank You” goes out to MJH PTO Spelling Bee Chair, Hazel Ellis, and PTO parent volunteers who helped make this year’s Spelling Bee one to be remembered. Thank you also to Mr. Jordan and Mr. Greg for all their preparatory help. A big round of applause goes out to teacher volunteers Mrs. Kolstad, Mrs. Duncan, Ms. Desmond, and Mrs. Crews for assisting and judging. Special thanks also goes to Mrs. Storseth for the use of her stage.

Montgomery Historical Society Cookie Walk

It’s that time of year for the annual Christmas in Montgomery and the Montgomery Historical Society Cookie Walk fundraiser.  The 21st annual Cookie Walk and the 35th Candlelight Home Tour will take place on Saturday, December 8th.  Breakfast with Santa begins at 8am and the Christmas Parade starts at 11am.  The Cookie Walk will open at 12 noon.  The Historic Home Tour is from 4-8pm.  The parents and students in Montgomery ISD are the event’s biggest supporters.  The Montgomery Historical Society is requesting that each MISD student bake and donate at least 2-4 dozen of their most beautiful holiday cookies.  The community loves to see the uniqueness and variety that come in on this special event.  What a great way to spend some family time making those old holiday recipes.  Please click this Cookie Walk Info Sheet link for more details about this wonderful holiday event.

MJH Library Gingerbread Contest

The MJH Library Gingerbread Contest is well under way!  We had over 30 teams enter.  Parents are welcome to come see all of the creativity that is being showcased in the library through Tuesday, December 4th...and cast your vote.  Students have been bringing in money to vote for their favorite creations and can continue to cast their votes through Tuesday, December 4th, as well.  All the money raised will go towards purchasing new books for the students here at MJH. We have already raised over $300.   The first, second, and third place winners will be sent to the Montgomery Historical Cookie Walk, where they will be entered into a silent auction to help raise money for the Montgomery Historical Society.  Thanks to all the teams who entered.  A lot of time and creativity went into this event.  Our students are amazing!

MJH Basketball

MJH Basketball is getting started.
Good luck this season to our MJH Basketball Teams!!!

MJH Lady Bears Girls Basketball

7th grade A team: The Lady Bear 7th grade A team rolled over Magnolia last night.  It was a high scoring game.  It took everyone on the team to accomplish the win. Great Job Lady Bears!
7th grade B-Team:  Last weekend, our Lady Bear 7th grade B team competed in the Lady Bulldog basketball tournament. The girls fell short, during the first game Friday night, against Bear Branch. However, they came back Saturday morning ready to win! The girls played great, defeating both Tomball and Claughton Jr. High to win the consolation bracket. Great way to start the Thanksgiving break girls! Thursday night, the Lady Bear 7th grade B team took the court against the Magnolia Lady Bulldogs. The girls started off strong and continued to play aggressive the entire game. We played great defense and let the Lady Bulldogs score only ONE basket. Our Lady Bears claimed the victory with a final score of 34-2! Come support your Lady bears next Thursday at home!
7th grade C-Team: This week, our Lady Bear 7th grade C team started their season off with a huge win over the Lady Bulldogs. Our Lady Bear's played great defense, refusing to let the Lady Bulldogs score. The girl's shot the ball every change they got. The Lady Bear's worked hard till the final buzzer, winning 42-0. Awesome job last night girls!
8th grade A-Team: The Lady Bear Basketball 8th grade A team took the court last night for their first official game.  Coming out with high energy and excitement they beat the Magnolia bulldogs 39-10.  We had awesome pressing and defense from Narissa Collier, Kyndall Linscomb, Logan Szymszack, and Megan Tshumperlin.  We had great shooting from Dani St. Pe and Maggie Page.  Some solid rebounds and blocks by Kaci Polk.  And awesome ball handling from Bethany Persons and Marli Lemons.  Well done for our first game Ladies, look forward to our next game on thursday!  Have a great weekend!
8th grade B-Team: The Lady Bear B team took down Magnolia Junior High last night 29-14 to kick off district.  This was the second time these ladies have beaten Magnolia this season.  Great job and good luck against Schultz Junior High next week!
