MJH Library Gingerbread Contest

The MJH Library Gingerbread Contest is well under way!  We had over 30 teams enter.  Parents are welcome to come see all of the creativity that is being showcased in the library through Tuesday, December 4th...and cast your vote.  Students have been bringing in money to vote for their favorite creations and can continue to cast their votes through Tuesday, December 4th, as well.  All the money raised will go towards purchasing new books for the students here at MJH. We have already raised over $300.   The first, second, and third place winners will be sent to the Montgomery Historical Cookie Walk, where they will be entered into a silent auction to help raise money for the Montgomery Historical Society.  Thanks to all the teams who entered.  A lot of time and creativity went into this event.  Our students are amazing!

7th grade B-Team:  Last weekend, our Lady Bear 7th grade B team competed in the Lady Bulldog basketball tournament. The girls fell short, during the first game Friday night, against Bear Branch. However, they came back Saturday morning ready to win! The girls played great, defeating both Tomball and Claughton Jr. High to win the consolation bracket. Great way to start the Thanksgiving break girls! Thursday night, the Lady Bear 7th grade B team took the court against the Magnolia Lady Bulldogs. The girls started off strong and continued to play aggressive the entire game. We played great defense and let the Lady Bulldogs score only ONE basket. Our Lady Bears claimed the victory with a final score of 34-2! Come support your Lady bears next Thursday at home!
7th grade C-Team: This week, our Lady Bear 7th grade C team started their season off with a huge win over the Lady Bulldogs. Our Lady Bear's played great defense, refusing to let the Lady Bulldogs score. The girl's shot the ball every change they got. The Lady Bear's worked hard till the final buzzer, winning 42-0. Awesome job last night girls!
8th grade A-Team: The Lady Bear Basketball 8th grade A team took the court last night for their first official game.  Coming out with high energy and excitement they beat the Magnolia bulldogs 39-10.  We had awesome pressing and defense from Narissa Collier, Kyndall Linscomb, Logan Szymszack, and Megan Tshumperlin.  We had great shooting from Dani St. Pe and Maggie Page.  Some solid rebounds and blocks by Kaci Polk.  And awesome ball handling from Bethany Persons and Marli Lemons.  Well done for our first game Ladies, look forward to our next game on thursday!  Have a great weekend!
8th grade B-Team: The Lady Bear B team took down Magnolia Junior High last night 29-14 to kick off district.  This was the second time these ladies have beaten Magnolia this season.  Great job and good luck against Schultz Junior High next week!

Football Highlights

SCOREBOARD:
7th grade Purple A vs Waller (22-7 win)
7th grade Purple B vs Waller (20-0 loss)
7th grade Gold A vs Waller Schultz (37-0 win)
7th grade Gold B vs Waller Schultz (2-0 loss)
8th grade Purple A vs Waller (16-12 loss)
8th grade Purple B vs Waller (8-6 loss)
8th grade Gold A vs Waller Schultz (28-0 win)
8th grade Gold B vs Waller Schultz (20-0 win)
7th Grade Purple Football: The 7th grade Purple football team traveled to Waller to face off in their final football game against the Bulldogs. The A-Team came out and scored quick on their first two possessions. They eventually won 22-6. The B-Team played hard but couldn’t keep anything going offensively. They lost 20-0. Congratulations on a good season and good luck next year in football.
7th Grade Gold Football: This week the 7th grade Gold A-Team won their final game of the season 37-0 and claimed the district championship. In the game, the Bears had six different players score touchdowns. They were Jacob Prigmore, Austin Pritchett, Jordan Hood, Trayveon Franklin, Ben Sheilds, and Parker McCown. Tristyn Gese had two interceptions and Jaden Miestad added an extra point. Excellent job in the game and going undefeated in district play. The 7th grade Gold B-Team played a hard fought defensive battle against the Schulze Bulldogs but came up short, ending with a 2-0 loss. The two standouts of the night were punter Luke Coleman and the big hit of the night went to Jake Rogers. Way to fight to the end, Bears.
8th Grade Purple Football: The 8th grade Purple team played Waller Junior High this week. The Purple A-Team was in a defensive battle from start to finish. Jacob Gallatin and Gage Arnold both scored touchdowns for the Bears. Unfortunately, the Bears lost 12-16. In the Purple B-Team game, the Bulldogs came out and scored an early touchdown, but the Bears answered right back with a score of our own from Cody McCrorey, making the score 6-8 with the Bulldogs leading. The Bears fought hard all night but could not overcome the two point deficit. Good job Bears from all the coaches.
8th Grade Gold Football: The Montgomery Gold team traveled to Waller this week. The Gold A-Team played like it was the last game they would ever play. The Bears set the tone for the game from the opening kickoff as the Bears Drew Smith caught the kick and took it to the house, 75 yards, for the score. This would not be the only time our Bears would see pay dirt as just two drives later Josh Pruett ran one in for 6. The Bears quarterback, Justin Garza, threw the ball great and as the 2nd half started he found Waverly Hampton streaking down the sideline and hit him in stride for the 6 points. Then in the fourth quarter, the Bears found the end zone one more time as Obrien Williams took the pitch and scampered 35 yards for the touchdown. The Bears offensive line, Kyle Herridge, Blake Hudgens, Brad Martin, Garrett McCray, Quentin Edmiston and Kasey Clark really did a great job of making holds for the running back. But the real story of the night was the Bears defense as they shut out the Bulldogs offense as your Bears stomped the Bulldogs 28-0. This defense has played great all year and has helped us win and be in many close games. Some standouts on defense were Chad Phillips, Jacob Trow, Nick Beasley, Jason Erving, Tim Poldo, Jake Villarubia and Dylan Wright. The coaches want to say thanks to the Gold A-Team for playing hard every game and until the end of every game. The Gold B-Team started the night off first and they started it off with a bang. This Bears team has done an outstanding job this year of running the football due to a couple of great running backs in Hunter Grimmett and Carson DeCoster. This game would be no different as the Bears ran all over the Bulldogs all night and never looked back as they routed the Bulldogs 20-0. The Bears have had great play from every position this year and it had made it a very fun year for the coaches and thanks for playing hard this year. Great job!

Football Highlights

SCOREBOARD:
7th grade Purple A vs Waller Schultz (21-0 win)
7th grade Purple B vs Waller Schultz (0-0 tie)
7th grade Gold A vs Willow Wood (7-6 win)
7th grade Gold B vs Willow Wood (0-6 loss)
8th grade Purple A vs Waller Schultz (7-0 win)
8th grade Purple B vs Waller Schultz (27-7 win)
8th grade Gold A vs Willow Wood (20-7 win)
8th grade Gold B vs Willow Wood (32-30 loss)

7th Grade Purple Football:  This week the 7th grade Purple team hosted the Waller Schultz Bulldogs.  The Purple A-Team came out to play this week, firing on all cylinders.  The Bears shutout the Bulldogs, winning 21-0.  The Purple B-Team played great defense, but could not get the ball in the end zone on offense.  The Bears tied 0-0. Great job Bears and good luck next Monday in your final game against Waller.
7th Grade Gold Football:  The 7th grade Gold A-Team defeated Willow Wood Jr High 7-6.  After trailing 6-0 at half time, Traveon Franklin forced a fumble that Tristyn Gese recovered on the Bears own 2 yard line.  The very next play, Jordan Hood threw a 98 yard bomb to Jacob Prigmore.  Ben Sheilds ran in the extra point to take the lead.  Hood also had an interception, as the defense shut down the Cougars all night.  Great job.  The 7th grade Gold B-team traveled to Tomball where they faced a strong Willow Wood team.  Although the offense failed to score, the defense held their opponents to only one touchdown.  This was the strongest defensive showing for the Bears this year.  Standouts for the Bears were Patrick Locke, Bailen Mills and the entire defensive force unit.  Good job Bears.
8th Grade Purple Football:  The 8th grade Purple team traveled to Waller Shultz Junior High this week.  The 8th grade Purple A-Team was in a defensive battle from start to finish with the Bulldogs.  Colton Wilson returned a punt from 50 yards in the 4th quarter, securing the win for the Bears.  The Bears won 7-0.  The 8th grade Purple B-Team defeated the Bulldogs 20-7.  The Bears defense played superb.  AJ Hicks, Jesus Dela-Sancha, Brandon Serrano all scored TDs for the Bears.  The Bear defense scored 4 of the 5 TDs.  Good job Bears from all the coaches.  The Purple team will play Waller Junior High on Tuesday, Nov 6 at home.  Please come out and support your team.
8th Grade Gold Football: The Gold Team was at home this week to take on the Willow Wood Jr. High Wildcats. The Gold A-Team has been in all close games this year but have fallen short in their last 3 games. This would not be the case this week. The Bears had great practices all week and it would pay in the end of this game. The Bears defense played hard all night and allowed only 6 points to show for it. The Bears offense also had a good night as they put up 14 points. And last the special teams got in on the action as they returned the second half kick-off for the touchdown. This would be a team victory all the way as your Bears beat the Wildcats from Willow Wood 20-6. The Gold B-Team got the night started off with a bang as they put up more points in this game then they have all year. The Bears offense came out on fire running and throwing the ball all over the field. These guys came into this game poised and ready for the job at hand. Even though they played well they were down 26-7 at halftime. But they made adjustments at halftime and the second half looked nothing like the first half. The Bears came out and scored 23 unanswered points to take the lead 30-26 with 2:00 left in the game. But just 3 plays later the Wildcats running back broke through the defense and ran 50 yards for the score. But the Bears were not done yet. They came out in their no huddle offense and drove the ball down the field to the Wildcats 15 yard line and the clock expired on them as they fell in this one with a score of 32-30. This is one of the best games I have ever been a part of as a Coach. Great Job from Coach Schramm and Coach Payne.
