MJH Golf

[Hidden image]In golf action, the Montgomery Lady Bears swept the competition in Brenham this week.  Individually Hailee Cooper won first with a one under par score of 35, Erica Bartee placed second, Cameron Newhouse brought home third.  Also playing well and top ten finishers were Iliana Stowers, Kaitlyn Rogers, Kelly Ann Kimball, and Reagan Deaton.  The 8th grade Bears also had a good night winning first place as a team.  Jacob Massengale placed first individually.  Ethan Cima, Jacob Kimberly and Ben Breckenridge finished in the top ten.  Your 7th grade Bears brought home second place team honors.  Kade Nicholson led the way, winning second place individually.  Trey Dawson also played well, finishing in the top ten.

8 th Grade Dance Preparations

Attention 8th grade parents:
We are beginning preparations for the 8th Grade Dance.   The end of year dance is scheduled for Friday, May 31. Please contact Traci Lemons via email at  cmtlemons@yahoo.com  if you would like to help and to let her know how you would like to be involved!  
Ways to be involved:  
  • Planning
  • Provide drinks or snacks for the dance
  • Decorating or clean up

MJH Bookfair

[Hidden image]MARK  Your Calendars... MJH will have  ONE MORE book fair this year.  The theme is Story Labratory:  READioactive Reading!  The book fair will be held in the library during the week of April 14-19, 2013. 
If we sell 550 books during the week of the fair, students will be entered into a drawing to win a chance to SLIME a science teacher or (librarian) during their lunch period. The sliming will take place on the stage on May 10th.  We have 5 teachers willing to be slimed and the librarian, too!  Science experiments will be going on all week during the fair.

Montgomery Junior Belle Tryouts

Montgomery Junior Belle tryouts will take place  April 29 – May 2 .  A mandatory parent/candidate tryouts meeting will take place on  Wednesday, April 17 at 5pm  in the MJH gym.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bess at  sbess@misd.org

MJH PTO Meeting

PTO Meeting:  Don't forget about our March PTO meeting this Thursday, 3/21/13, at 8:45 am!  We will discuss remaining events for the Spring as well as recruiting for the 2013-2014 PTO Board to be elected in May.

Spring Pictures

On Thursday, March 21, Spring Pictures will be taken of the students at MJH.  We need 1-2 parent volunteers throughout the day to help the school with the kids during pictures. Please contact Stephanie Hood at mjhptobox@gmail.com if you are able to help any on that day.

MJH UIL Choir

The Montgomery Junior High Choir Department recently competed at the 2013 UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest and brought home 2 First Division plaques and 1 “Sweepstakes” trophy.  Under the direction of Alice Lothman, both the Non-Varsity Men and Women’s Choirs competed and received a First Division rating for their work on stage.  The Varsity Women also competed and they received perfect “1” ratings from all judges to earn a "Sweepstakes" trophy.  The “Sweepstakes” trophy is the highest award given to a choir at UIL and it is not easily attained.  All of the MJH Choir students worked extremely hard in preparing for this event and it showed at contest.  The MJH Choir Department is proud to bring back these awards for Montgomery.

MJH Track & Field

Montgomery Junior High hosted our track meet this week at MHS.  The 7th grade team won Team Champion and the 8th grade team received third place.  Good job Bears from all the coaches.

UIL One Act Play - The Diary of Anne Frank

The UIL One Act Play, The Diary of Anne Frank,  advanced this week to the District Level.
Best Actress: Kailey Axmaker - Anne Frank
All Star Cast Awards:  Sally Johnson and Jack Russell - Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Honorable Mention:  Sam Tucker and Kailey Johnson - Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan
Best Tech: Isabel Chapa
They competed Thursday, Feb 28th at Magnolia High School along with three other schools. They will also be performing on Saturday, March 2nd here in the Black Box 5:00 and 7:00 shows.  Tickets are $5.
