MJH Tennis
The MJH Tennis teams traveled to Waller to take on the Bulldogs last week. The girls’ team swept their competition 10-0. The boys won 9-1. This week, the teams traveled to Brenham to take on the Cubs in a battle of the undefeated, and for sole possession of first place in district.
The boys’ team fought a formidable Brenham squad, but in the end the Bears defeated the Cubs by a score of 6-4. The girls had an easier time with the Cubs, sweeping all 4 singles matches and by defeating the Cubs by a score of 7-3. The final match tournament of the year will be held next Tuesday, May 14, at home vs. Waller Schultz when the District Championship will be decided. Good luck to our MJH Tennis teams!
Summer Camps
This summer, the Department of Nutrition, Hospitality, and Retailing at Texas Tech University is hosting the sixth annual Fashion Camp as well as the fourth annual Chef Camp.
During Fashion Camp, students explore the world of fashion by participating in numerous activities that enhance their individual style and sense of creativity. Fashion Camp 2013 is a great opportunity for students with any interest in fashion, pop culture, and art. After a week full of fashion design activities, the students will present their skills through a fashion show followed by a reception for their friends and family on Friday the 28th at 12:30pm . The age group for fashion camp is 10-18 years old. Cost is $475 per person before May 15th and $575 after May 15th . The cost includes meals, room and board, all supplies, and a camp T-shirt. Additional materials and information will be sent individually upon receipt of the application and camp fee. The application and information can be found on our website www.fashioncamp.hs.ttu.edu .
The Department of Nutrition, Hospitality, and Retailing at Texas Tech University is hosting the fourth annual Chef Camp for ages 13 to 18. Chef Camp 2013 is dedicated to enhancing each camper’s knowledge and skills of culinary arts — ranging from lessons and activities on plating, preparation and presentation. Campers explore the world of culinary arts, but at the same time learn many aspects of their own personal style. Each camp day is beneficial and tons of fun. On Thursday evening campers participate in an “Iron Chef” type competition. After a week full of culinary arts activities, the students will present their skills at a reception for their family and friends. The cost is $650 per person before May 15th and $750 after May15th . Fees include meals, room and board, all supplies, camp t-shirt, chef coat, and apron. The application and information can be found on our website, www.chefcamp.hs.ttu.edu .
