Great job from Coach Buss & Coach Dickson.
7th Grade Purple:  The Montgomery Bears 7th grade Purple football teams hosted Bear Branch this week.  The 7th grade Purple B Team played a tough and physical game but ultimately lost 6-13.  The 7th grade Purple A Team had several opportunities to score and had several key turnovers that resulted in touchdowns for Bear Branch.  Montgomery put up a valiant effort and played hard until the final whistle, but came up short in the end, losing 20-0.  Keep working hard and good luck next week against Magnolia.

8th Grade Gold:  The 8th grade Gold “B” team played Tomball JH this week.  It was a defensive battle from the start.  The score was tied all the way until 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter.  The Bears scored a touchdown from 3 yards out resulting in a winning score of 6-0.  Good job Bears from all the coaches.  The  8th grade Gold “A” team hosted Tomball JH this week.  The Bears fought hard but lost the contest.  Good Job Bears from all the coaches.

8th Grade Purple:  The Montgomery Purple Team traveled to Bear Branch this past Wednesday. The 8th grade B Team got it started at 5 pm. This was a good game as both teams were ready to play. Bear Branch got the ball first and came out on offense but the Bears defense was also ready and shut them down on their first drive of the game to give the ball to their offense. Both teams played hard all night but Bear Branch was up 20-0 at the half. Your Bears came out from half time on offense and drove the ball down the field but could not get the ball in the end zone all night as Bear Branch finished on top in this on with a final score of 26-0. The Montgomery Purple Team A Team was also at Bear Branch Wednesday night. This was a very exciting came as the Bears got the ball first and drove it down the field and quarterback Jordan Hood found Jacob Prigmore through the air for the touchdown and Jody Miller added the PAT to make the score 8-0. Bear Branch's offense also came out firing away as they to drove the ball and scored with the PAT to make it 8-8. The Bears defense gave up one more score before half time to
bring it to 14-8 just before intermission. The second half was just as exciting as the first as both teams played very good all night but Bear Branch would pull this one out with a final score of 28-10. The Purple A Team has played very good the past two weeks but has sun into two very good football teams. Keep your heads up and keep playing hard, from Coach Payne and Coach Schramm.

7th grade Volleyball: The 7th grade A team took home 1st place at the Lynn Lucas tournament this past weekend!  The girls took down Keefer Crossing, Irons, and Brabham to face Bear Branch for the final match.  Taking them three games, we lost the first, won the second, and then won the third game by two points.  It was an exciting fight until the very end! Great job girls! The Lady Bear 7th grade A team fell to Willow Wood last night.  It was a tough game, and the girls fought hard.  We look forward to facing Bear Branch again next week!The 7th grade B team girls played hard all weekend at their tournament in Willis. They beat out Keefer on Friday night, but then fell to York. On Saturday morning, they beat Moorhead, and then won against Brabham to win their consolation bracket. Congrats girls!  Congrats to the 7th grade B team Volleyball girls who beat Willow Wood in three games last night. Shout out to Lauren Prichet, whose 14 serves in a row brought us back in the third game, finishing Willow Wood 25-15.
8th grade Volleyball: After a long hiatus.....everybody get your brooms out - 8th grade had a sweep!  Last night the 8th grade C team took down the 7th grade C team to continue their undefeated season.  The 8th grade B team stormed onto the court and quickly took down Willow Wood Jr. High in 2 games 25-16 and 25-10.  Willow Wood was no match for our strong serves, excellent communication, and great defense! The 8th grade A team took the court last night with confidence, against Willow Wood Jr. High. The girls served tough and scored many aces throughout last night’s match. During the first game, we were unstoppable at the net and defeated the Wildcats 25-13. Coming out strong in the second game, the lady bears played great defense and worked hard for each point. 7th Grade Purple:  no info reported
8th Grade Gold:  The Bears 8th grade Gold B team hosted Waller this week at Junior Bear Stadium.  The Bears played their best game of the season so far. The defense held the Bulldogs to only one score in the last seconds of the contest, and the offense scored on their opening two possessions and converted 18 first downs throughout the game.  Luke Stuart opened up the scoring when Conner Brittain connected with him on a 16 yard strike in the end zone.  Nathaniel Schubert capped of the second drive with a 15 yard touchdown scamper around the left edge, putting the Bears up 12-0.  Matthew Ramirez finished the scoring for the Bears when he took a quick pitch around the right side for 11 yards and the touchdown, late in the 4th quarter.  The final score was 18-7, with the Bears earning a hard fought victory. Congratulations to the Gold B team from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.
In Gold 8th grade A Team news, the Bears engaged in a hard-hitting, physical battle against the Waller Bulldogs A Team.  The Bears put on an offensive clinic, marching down the field for scores on 4 out of their 5 possessions.  Caleb Campbell scored on a 65 yard run to start the scoring onslaught, following with a 1 yard sneak on the next drive.  Alex Nunn scored on runs of 36 and 27 yards and Luke Coleman connected on 2 point after attempts to put the Bears at 28 points in the game.  The Bears offense rushed for 200 yards and Campbell distributed the ball to 5 different receivers and amassing 130 yards in the air.  Maybe even more impressive than the Gold team offense was the stifling defense.  The Bears “D” pitched a shutout last night, holding the Bulldogs to only 4 first downs and zero points and forcing 5 turnovers.  The final score was 28-0.  Congratulations to the Gold A team from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.
8th Grade Purple:   The Montgomery Purple Team traveled to Tomball Tuesday night to take on the Cougars of Tomball Jr. High. The 8th grade Purple B Team got the night started. The Bears came out flat and the Cougars took advantage as they scored twice in the first quarter and once early in the second quarter to make the game 20-0. The Bears came out with a little different attitude as the defense stepped up and shut Tomball out for the rest of the first half and the Bears offense also got in on the action as quarterback Adam Cantu found a wide open Baylen Mills running down the sideline for the completion and the touchdown to bring the score to 20-7 at halftime. The second half was a totally different story as the Bears came out firing on all cylinders as they started the comeback. The offense found something down deep and came out roaring as quarterback Baylen Mills would hook up Jake Gilmore for three, yes I said three, touchdown passes in the second half alone.  The Bears defense was stifling as they held the Cougars in the second half to no points to end the game on top with a score of 25-20. This was a very fun and exciting game to coach and we are very proud of how hard you fought, from Coach Payne and Coach Schramm.
The Montgomery 8th grade Purple A Team also traveled to Tomball Tuesday night to take on the Cougars. This game was one of the hardest hitting so far. The Bears came out a little tight and were off a little in the first quarter and Tomball took advantage as they scored twice in the first 5 minutes of the game to make the score 14-0. The second quarter was a little different as we settled down and started playing football. The Bears offense found themselves with the ball right before halftime inside the Cougar 10 yard line but could not get it in the end zone before the clock ran out on the first half with a score of 20-0. The second half was a little different story as the Bears offense took the ball straight down the field for the score to make it 20-8. The Bears defense played great in the second half, along with offense, but the Cougars were just a little too much for us this time as they held to beat the Bears by a score of 36-8. Some stand outs for the Bears were Jody Miller, Treyveon Franklin, Ben Shields, Colton Canada, Dalton Niesner and the Bears Defense who all played hard all night. Great job from Coach Payne and Coach Schramm.
