7th grade Gold
The 7th grade Gold "B" Team played the game of the season when they fought back from a 12-0 deficit at halftime and dominated the second half to defeat the Schultz Bulldogs 13-12. The players of the game on offense were Damean Davenport who ran all over the Bulldog defense in the second half. Noel Spurlock did a great job of running the offense from his quarterback position. Kyle Dahlstedt scored one of the touchdowns for the Bears but fumbled in the end zone. The Bears offensive line secured the touchdown for the Bears by recovering the fumble. Spurlock added the PAT. Spurlock would later add the second TD for the Bears on a run into the end zone. Dowling Dickey dazzled the crowd with an amazing kickoff return. Great job from Coach Buss and Coach Dickson.
The 7th grade Gold "A" Team played a tough Bulldog team last night and came away with a hard-fought 12-6 win. The Bulldogs scored first but the Bears came back and scored quickly when quarterback Braydon Stone ran the option play to perfection. Stone pitched the ball to Connor Wilson who raced down the sideline for a 65 yard touchdown. Later in the game, Stone would throw a 5 yard pass to Wilson for the Bears second score. Playing well on defense for the Bears was Matt Ward from his noseguard position. Luke Loera made a game-saving tackle late in the game to secure the victory. Shane Hunter and Daniel Dobis blocked a punt in the first half. Coach Buss and Coach Dickson want to say how proud they are of the effort that both teams gave in the two victories. Both the A and B teams finished the season with identical six wins and two loss records.
7th Grade Purple
The Montgomery Bears Purple 7th grade B team split and played each other this week. Both teams played hard, but the Purple “White” team prevailed over the Purple “Purple” team, winning 7-0.
The 7th grade Purple A team came out firing on all cylinders against the Waller Bulldogs. The Bears played great on defense and kept Waller out of the endzone. Montgomery scored at will, winning 28-0. Great job Bears!
The 8th grade Gold teams hosted the Waller Schultz Bulldogs last night in the last game of the season. The 8th grade Gold B team started the night off strong with excellent showings in all three phases of the game. The offense scored 5 touchdowns with 5 different players, including Matthew Ramirez, Nathaniel Schubert, Tanner Thomas, Larry Scott, and Luke Stuart. Extra points were also scored by Luke Stuart and Justin St. Clair. The offensive line dominated all night and Jacob Malone had a 20 yard run to pick up an important first down. The defense was led by standouts Chance Steuber, Matthew Hablinski, and Bryce Futral. Matthew Ramirez also had a kickoff return for a touchdown. Congratulations to the Gold B team for the big 38-6 win and for a great season from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois
In 8th grade Gold A team news, the Bears overcame a wild 2nd quarter to come away with the win over the Bulldogs. The A team made huge plays on offense, defense, and special teams last night. Alex Nunn scored on a punt return and Luke Coleman converted on 6 PAT's, thanks to great snaps and holds from Austin Pritchett and Caleb Cambell, and executed two onside kicks to highlight the special teams play. Offensively, two more scores from Nunn, two from Juwan Raglin, and one each from Campbell and Ben Bolt would round out the scoring. Defensively, the Bear D-line and backers were all over the Bulldog quarterback forcing many mistakes and getting sacks. Kenyura Hill was able to force a fumble and Brock Nickerson, Jonathan Nath, and Alex Nunn were able to recover fumbles. Each phase of the game helped the Bears get a victory of a whopping 54 - 20 over Waller Schultz. Congratulations to the Gold A team for a great win and for an awesome season from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.
8th Grade Purple
The Montgomery 8th grade Purple B Team traveled to Waller this week to take on the Waller Jr. High Bulldogs. This was a tight game but the Bears scored early and refused to allow the Bulldogs offense to move the ball all night long. This would turn out to be a game just like your Bears have played all year. On both sides of the ball we played hard and fast from whistle to whistle the entire game. The only score of the night from Bears running back Dustin Thomas 10 yards out to put the Bears up 6-0 and that’s how it would finish. Being a part of coaching this team has been incredible and has made us better coaches because of how hard you have worked this year. Great Job from Coach Payne and Coach Schramm.
The Montgomery 8th grade Purple A Team also traveled to Waller this week to take on the Bulldogs. The past four games the Bears have played have been lights out and this one would be no different. The Bears offense came out firing away and in the first half only having the ball for a total of four plays on offense and scored 3 touchdowns. Bears quarterback Jordan Hood threw 4 passes for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half alone. He connected with Bears receivers Jody Miller, Seth Quinlan and Jacob Prigmore for long strikes through the air. Then Waller punted the ball away and Ben Shields took the punt return untouched through the Bulldog defense 70 yards for the score to make it 26-0 at the half. The second half was much of the same as the Bears got the ball first and Bears running back Trayveon Franklin took the kickoff, broke a tackle, and turned on the speed as he walked away from the Bulldogs to score from 80 yards out to make it a Final 32-0. This has been a great year and has been an honor to be able to be a part of such a great group of athletes and young men for us coaches. Great season and thank you for giving us everything you had on every play every game, from Coach Payne and Coach Schramm.

7th Grade Gold: The 7th grade Gold B team hosted the Tomball Willow Wood Wildkats this week at Jr Bear Stadium. The game was close throughout, but the Bears lost 12-6. Scoring the touchdown for the Bears was Jackson Rogers on a 15 yard pass from Noel Spurlock. Good job from coach Buss & Coach Dickson.
The 7th grade Gold A team played the visiting Willow Wood Wildkats this week and were defeated by the score of 26-0. The Bears could not put the ball in the end zone and the defense had a tough time stopping the fast Wildkat backs. Good job from Coach Buss & Coach Dickson.
7th Grade Purple: The Montgomery Bears 7th grade Purple teams traveled to Waller this week to fare off against the Bulldogs of Waller Schultz. The 7th grade Purple B team played tough but turned the ball over too many times and ultimately lost 6 to 19.
The 7th grade Purple A team kept a tight game as well, but lost. The Bears had several opportunities to score but couldn’t convert. The Purple team plays their last game next week at home against Waller. Come out and support your Bears and good luck!
8th Grade Gold: The Gold Teams traveled to Willowood this week to take on the Wildcats. The 8th grade Gold B team offense could not be stopped in what turned out to be a shootout. Running back, Matthew Ramirez, stole the show, scoring three touchdowns and converting on two conversion attempts, while rushing for over 150 yards. Luke Stuart capped off another drive with a touchdown of his own, late in the game. The Bear defense struggled at times but stepped up big with a stop in the closing minutes when Drew Maler intercepted a pass to seal the victory. The Bear B team showed some mercy, kneeling the ball on the Wildcat 1 yard line instead of going for the touchdown in the final seconds of the game. The Bears came away with a 27-22 victory over the previously unbeaten Willow Wood Wildcats. Coming up big for the Bears last night were Jacob Maldonado, Larry Scott, and Aiden Waters. Congratulations to the Gold B team from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.
The 8th grade Gold A Team struggled to find a rhythm offensively in the first half and were unable to move the ball successfully. The Wildcat offense was able to score first and hit the PAT and carried an 8-0 lead over the Bears into halftime. Another scare came late into the third quarter when Willowood marched the ball into Bear territory but the defense tightened up and held at the one yard line on 4th down. Finally the offense found its groove and Alex Nunn took a handoff 96 yards for the Bears first score. Luke Coleman converted the PAT to tie the score at 8-8. The Bears made a gutsy call and onside kicked the next kickoff, which paid off when Juwan Raglin recovered. Three plays later, Caleb Campbell found Lucas McCaleb streaking down the sideline for a 40 yard touchdown. Luke Coleman, again, converted the PAT to go ahead 16-8, which proved to be critical because Willowood would mount a late game score. The Wildcats would need to convert but Dylan Buntyn had other plans. Dylan bowled over an offensive lineman and stretched his hand into the air and blocked the kick, winning the game for the Bears. Congratulations to the Gold A team on the 16-14 win from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.
8th Grade Purple: The Montgomery 8th grade Purple B Team hosted the Waller Schultz Bulldogs last night at Jr. Bear Stadium. This was a great game as the Bears played hard on both sides of the ball the entire game. The offense did not waste much time to get points on the board as quarterback Baylen Mills found Caleb Merdian running down the sideline to score though the air from 50 yards out to make it 8-0. In the third quarter Bears running back Jake Gilmore, who just came back from an injury, took the pitch, broke two tackles and took it to the house from 45 yards out, and Patrick Locke with the PAT, to make it 16-0. The Bears defense held a late surge by the Bulldogs to finish the game on top 16-8. Great game!
The Montgomery 8th grade Purple A Team also hosted the Waller Schultz Bulldogs this week, and what a game. The Bears, on both sides of the ball, where on fire all night. The Bears offense put up 40 points on the night and 6 different Bears scoring touchdowns. The Bears quarterback Jordan Hood threw touchdown passes to Parker McCown, Jody Miller and Kyle Koss. Then Hood called his own number as he ran in a score from 60 yards out. The Bears running backs Trayveon Franklin and Ben Shields also found the end zone on the night to top off the scoring for the Bears. The Bears defense, in back to back games, pitched a shutout as the Bulldogs could not move the ball all night. Some standouts on defense were Dalton Niesner, Dalton Hall, Peyton Davis, Colton Canada and the Bears BIG linebacker Ryan Brock. Great game guys, with a score of 40-0 over the Bulldogs, from Coach Payne and Coach Schramm.

The 7th grade Gold A team played a home game this week against the Magnolia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs came ready to play as they posted a 23-0 win. The Bears offense could not put the ball in the end zone. The defense played hard all night. Coach Buss and Coach Dickson are proud of their effort.

Montgomery played tough on defense by had a hard time stopping the big play, losing 8 to 32. Keep working hard and good luck next week against Waller.
8th Grade Gold
The Montgomery Gold team traveled to Magnolia this week to take on the Magnolia Bulldogs. The 8th grade Gold B team got off to a fast start scoring on two of its first three drives and holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the first half. The final outcome was 19-6 in favor of Montgomery. Scoring for the Bears were Luke Stuart, Matthew Ramirez, and Larry Scott. Top defenders last night were Nicholas Pittman, Drew Maler, and Brandon Eaglin. Congratulations to the Gold B team from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.
In 8th grade Gold A team news, our Bears played one of their best games all season. Offensively, EVERYONE was able to make major contributions. Nathan Danielson broke out the "stickem" to pick up a key first down early in the game. Jonathan Nath started off the scoring when he caught a pass from Caleb Campbell and took it to the house from 65 yards out. Campbell capped off the following drive with a 1 yard touchdown run and Juwan Raglin scored from 20 and 35 yards out to lead the team with two touchdowns. Luke Coleman converted 3 out of 3 point after attempts and Campbell connected with Nath for a 1 point conversion to round out the scoring at 31 points. Not to be outdone, the defense gave up one score early but settled down and dominated the rest of the game. Daymon Vargas was able to intercept two passes and Kenyura Hill added another takeaway when he recovered a Bulldog fumble. The Bear defense front seven was in the backfield all night, racking up 12 sacks and 15 tackles for loss and our DB's smothered their receivers and amassed 7 pass breakups. The final score was Montgomery 31, Magnolia 6. Congratulations to the Gold A team from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.

8th Grade Purple
The Montgomery Purple Team hosted the Willow Wood Wildcats at Jr. Bear Stadium. The 8th grade Purple B Team got it started with a nail biter. Both Teams played hard all night. The Bears found the end zone two times in the night, once through the air as the Bears quarterback Baylen Mills found Adam Cantu running down the sideline for the score from 45 yards out. Then Bears running back Dustin Thomas took it to the house from 65 yards out, with two point after attempts by Patrick Locke that where good, to make the score 16-14 in favor of the Bears. The Wildcats did not give up though as they got the ball back with 2 minutes to go in the game and took the ball down the field, and as the buzzer went off to end the game, the Wildcats running back took the ball across the goal line for the touchdown to beat yours Bears 20-16. This was a great game to have the chance to coach. Great job from Coach Payne and Coach Schramm.
The Montgomery 8th grade Purple A Team came into this game playing better than we have all year and this game would be no different. The Bears offense got the ball first and took the ball right down the field and scored. Their second possession on offense was much of the same as they would march it down the field and score again to bring it to 16-0 in the first quarter. The second half was just like the first as the offense would score two more times in the third quarter to make it 28-0. The story of the night would be the Bears defense, as they only gave up four first downs and held a very good offensive unit to no points on the night as the Bears beat the Wildcats 28-6. A few standouts in the game was the offensive line, Dalton Hall, Peyton Davis, Reid Swann, Dalton Niesner, Kyle Koss, the Bears BIG tight end Ryan Brock and the rest of the Bears Defense. Great game guys from Coach Payne and Coach Schramrn.
