Lady Bears Volleyball
7th grade Volleyball: This past weekend, the Lady Bear 7th grade A team traveled to Bryan for their final tournament of the season.  The Lady Bears won consolation.  The Lady Bear 7th grade A, B, and C teams swept the Waller Lady Bulldogs last night!  All teams had a great season. Each team worked hard from the beginning to the very last practice. Keep playing and practice hard for 8th grade next year! Your hard work will pay off!
8th grade Volleyball: Over the weekend, the Lady Bear 8th grade A team traveled to Bryan for their final tournament of the season. The Lady Bear’s rolled over their first opponent, College Station Middle School, winning 25-13 and 25-11. Their second opponent, Franklin Jr. High, was no match for the Lady Bears’ tough serves. They quickly defeated Franklin, 25-10 and 25-8. The lady bears then faced Sam Rayburn, who made the lady bears work a little harder for their win of 25-23 and 25-17. During their championship match against Knox Jr. High, the girls played with confidence and determination. The girls played great defense and were unstoppable at the net. The Lady Bears defeated Knox 25-20 and 25-13, to take home ANOTHER first place trophy! Great job this weekend girls!
In 8th grade volleyball action our A, B , and C teams swept Waller to end the season in winning fashion.  The 8th grade C team came out and crushed Waller with strong serves.  All season these ladies dominated.  Not one team they played stood a chance and they ended the season with a perfect record of 5-0.  Congratulations to these ladies on a great season- Christina Cane, Emily Collora, Tori Fincher, Bailey Gatewood, Mikayla Martin, Peyton Morel, Brooklyn Myers, Tori Poldo, Alyssa Preuss, Kaylie Scott, Julia Smith, and Hope Vanhaverbeke.

The 8th grade B team had a slow start but topped Waller 27-25 and 25-18. The ladies played their hearts out all season and ended with a 10-3 record, including winning 1st place and 2nd place in the two tournaments they competed in.  These ladies never gave up during the season, even when they were down, and that is the mark of true winners.  Great job to these girls on a successful season: Kennadie Cochran, Leigh Freeman, Tori Meador, Charlotte Merdian, Payden Montgomery, Kenzie Pace, Reagan Pustka, Alexa VonGontard, Savannah Wendt, and Kierra Wheeler.  Thanks for not giving Coach Wallace a heart attack!

In a swift 2 game match, our 8th grade A team defeated the Waller Lady bulldogs 25-7 and 25-8. The Lady Bears didn’t let up for a single point, determined to keep the Lady Bulldogs under 10 points. We had strong serves from Mamie Gray, Hannah Anderson, and Mallory Talbert. Our defense and serve receive was spot on from Taylor Powell, Makenzie Masich, and Arianna Pinon. Earning many kills and showing no mercy at the net was Jasmine White, Kelsey Elliot, and Micalyn Ely. The Lady Bears ended their season with a record of 13-2 and winning first place in both tournaments! Congratulations girls on an awesome season! We are so proud of you!

7th Grade Gold:  The Gold B Team ran their winning streak to five straight games with a 9-6 victory over the Bear Branch Bears.  In a game where field position was key, our punt team played a big role in the victory.  Jackson Rodgers was perfect with his deep snaps and Hayden Marr consistently kept Bear Branch pinned down in their own territory.  The defense played a good second half by shutting out the home team and recording a safety.  Scoring for the Bears was Cody Clair on a 50 yard pass from Dillon Smith.  The Gold A Team remains undefeated for the season after escaping with a hard-fought 12-6 win over the Bear Branch Bears.  The game was played on a sloppy field and our Bears did a good job of protecting the football.  Caleb Schneider did a good job managing the game and directing the offense.  The defense played another outstanding game, shutting out the home team.  Scoring for the Bears was Connor Wilson on a touchdown run, and Wilson also threw a touchdown pass to Garrett Stanley.  Great job 7th Grade Gold Teams from Coach Buss & Coach Dickson!
7th Grade Purple:  The Montgomery Bears 7th grade Purple football teams hosted the Magnolia Bulldogs this week.  Both the B Team & the A Team played tough the entire game but ultimately lost.  The Bears have three games left and play in Tomball next week against Willow Wood.  Good luck Bears!
8th Grade Gold:   The Gold Teams traveled to Bear Branch last night to take on the Bear Branch Bears.  The 8th grade Gold B team played a tough game on both sides of the ball but was unable to capitalize on big plays made by quarterback Luke Stuart, running back Matthew Ramirez, and tight end Keller Houston.  The offense marched their way into the redzone two times but was unable to punch it in, and the defense was highlighted by a Keller Houston interception for a touchdown.  Our Bears fell 20-6.  Way to fight hard B team from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.  In 8th grade Gold A team news, our Bears engaged in yet another hard hitting battle last night.  The defense played a tough game, holding their opponents to 6 points early in the contest then relenting another 6 very late in the game.  The A team offense was able to move the ball pretty well, for the most part, but was unable to cap off their drives with scores.  Top players for our Bears this week were Ben Bolt, Jonathan Nath, Daymon Vargas, Alex Nunn, and Juwan Raglin.  Keep playing tough A team from Coach Washington and Coach Bourgeois.
8th Grade Purple: The Montgomery 8th grade Purple B Team traveled to Magnolia last night to take on the Magnolia Bulldogs. This would be a coming out game for the Bears on both sides of the ball. The Bears got it started quick as the offense took the field near the end of the first quarter and Dustin Thomas to the pitch bobbled it, made a cut, and took it 80 yards for the score, Patrick Locke with the PAT. This would not be the only Bear in the end zone during this match up as the Bears lined up with 20 seconds left before halftime and quarterback Baylen Mills found Caleb Merdian for 65 yards for the score through the air to make it 14-0 at the half. The second half was not much different from the first as Baylen Mills would throw more darts to Cole Thorton and Ridge Rainwater for touch downs.  Running back Taylor McMichael ran another score in as the Bears finished on top in this one 36-12 over the Bulldogs.  The Montgomery 8th grade Purple A Team also traveled to Magnolia last night to take on the Bulldogs. This also would be a great game for the Bears as the defense took the field first and stopped the Bulldogs. The offense came out firing on all cylinders as they moved the ball up and down the field all night. First it would be Jordan Hood to Jody Miller for the touchdown. Then Jordan Hood got his number called again as he ran it in for the score just before the half. The second half was no different from the first as the Bears got the ball first and never let up as Hood found Bears BIG tight end Ryan Brock for a 40 yard score through the air to make it 22-0. The running backs got in on the action as Treyveon Franklin ran 2 balls across the goal line, one from 75 yards out and one from 15 yards out to finish off the game as the Bears rout the Bulldogs 36-0. Great game guys friom Coach Schramm and Coach Payne.
