7th Grade Purple Football: The Montgomery Bears 7th Grade Purple teams hosted White Oak Wolves this week. The 7th Grade Purple B-Team set the tone early and scored on nearly every possession, winning 45-6. The 7th Grade Purple A-Team kept the Wolves out of the endzone the entire night, shutting White Oak out 20-0. Great job Bears. Keep up the hard work.
7th Grade Gold Football: The 7th Grade Gold A-Team
was defeated 22-0 this week by Willis Brabham. The Bears just could not
get their offense on track. Trayveon Franklin made a spectacular 50
yards kick-off return and was one block away from breaking it for a
touchdown. The 7th Grade Gold B-Team
tied Willis Brabham 0-0 Monday night. It was a defensive battle from
beginning to end. Standouts for the Bears were Dylan Edwards, Dedrick
Davis, and Watavie’z Johnson. Dylan Edwards recovered a fumble for the
Bears after a bone crushing tackle was made by Dedrick Davis. Watavie’z
Johnson had a key interception late in the game and returned it 30 yards
to spoil a Willis attempt to win the game. 8th Grade Purple Football: The 8th grade Purple A-Team also played White Oak last night at home. Gage Arnold scored on an 85 yard kick off return and also on a 65 yard hand off from Hunter Logeman to tie the score at 14-14. The Bears offense then scored on a 35 yard pass to Kevon Hill making the score 20-14. White Oak answered with a score of their own, knotting the score at 20-20 with only 3 seconds left on the clock. Ricky Queen scored all four of the Bears extra points. The Bears scored the final touchdown with a 55 yard pass to Kevon Hill with no time left on the clock. The Bears defeated White Oak 26-20. The 8th Grade Purple B-Team played White Oak. The Bears offense scored in the 2nd Quarter with a pass to Benjamin Elias which went for 25 yards. Teddy Sherrill converted the extra point. The Bears defense played with intensity all night intercepting the ball twice. Brian Williams intercepted once, and Cole Richey intercepted the ball once. The Bears defense did not allow a IS' down in the game. The Bears defeated White Oak 14-0. Great Job Bears from all the coaches. The Bears Purple team will travel play the Bears gold team on Tuesday, September 25th, 2012. Please come out and support the team.
8th Grade Gold Football: The 8th Grade Gold A-Team also traveled to Brabham to take on the Bobkats. This would turn out to be a hard hitting and fast football game. The Bears came prepared and it showed from the first snap of the ball. The Bears defense came out on the first play and set the tone for the game as they stuffed the Bobkats offense and ended the first half with the score knotted a 0-0. In the second half the offense got into the game as they drove the ball 74 yards and quarterback Justin Garza took the ball into the end zone to tie the game up at 6-6. The Bears played hard and never stopped but fell short when the Bobkats scored on the last play of the game to make the score 13-6. The 8th Grade Gold B-Team traveled to Willis Tuesday night to take on the Bobkats of Brabham Middle School. The Bears came into the game ready to play and they played hard but at the end of the first half they were down 13-0. They made their adjustments at halftime and to start the 3rd quarter the Bears drove the ball down the field and T.J. Bailey took the handoff and scampered 28 yards for the TD to make the score 13-7. The Bobcats would answer back in the 4th quarter to make the score 20-7 and that's how it would end as the Bears fell to the Bobkats. Great Job from Coach Schramm and Coach Payne.
Volleyball Highlights
7th Grade Volleyball: The 7th Grade A & B Teams fell to the Magnolia Lady Bulldogs last night. Good luck to both teams at the Willis tournament this weekend. The 7th Grade C-Team experienced another win over the Magnolia Bulldogs! Good job Lady Bears!8th Grade Volleyball: Over the weekend, the Lady Bear 8th Grade A-Team competed in the College Station Middle School volleyball tournament. During their first match against Navasota, the girls played strong and defeated Navasota in two games. The girls’ second match against College Station was a tough battle. The girls’ hard work and great defense was not enough to clench the win. Their last match against A&M Consolidated was a well played match. The girls took the win in two games and brought home the 3rd place trophy! Great job girls! Thursday night, our Lady Bear 8th Grade A-Team took the court against the Magnolia Lady Bulldogs. The girls battled in two close games, falling short 23-25 and 24-26. Our defense was solid and our offense was consistent, but it wasn't enough to snatch the win from the Lady Bulldogs. The girls play home next week against Tomball, so come out and show your support! The Lady Bear 8th Grade B-Team took the court at Magnolia Junior High ready to play. After losing the first game they fought back hard and won the second, taking the Dogs to three games and then defeating them 15-4. We had great front row action from Taylor Skinner, Mackenzie Coleman, Felicity Collier and Clarianne Aguilar. A big defensive presence from Bailee Kieselhorst, Marli Lemons, Aliyah Ditta and Allie Spitalerie. Awesome setting by Dani St. Pe and serving by Brooke Turley. And we can’t forget the great encouragement for these girls from Sierra Seale and Abby Young. Not to mention the VIP who made an appearance, Mr. McFadden. Thanks for your support! Our 8th Grade C-Team played the Magnolia Bulldogs Thursday night, ready to continue their undefeated season, and that is just what they did, beating the Dogs in two games. Way to work hard and fight for the win ladies. Keep it up!
